The Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust is located in Harlow, Essex and is a 530 bedded District General Hospital providing a comprehensive range of safe and reliable acute and specialist services to a local population of 258,000 people.

Our people make us who we are
Our staff are dedicated, passionate and caring professionals, just under 30% of whom have worked for the Trust for more than 10 years. We actively engage in staff partnership and training initiatives and two highly successful employee recognition schemes have been reintroduced.
Financials
The Trust concluded 2008/09 recording a better than breakeven position for the third consecutive year. We achieved our statutory financial obligation with a surplus of £3.2 million which was better than planned.
The budget plan for 2009/19 anticipates the delivery of a further surplus of £5.1 million and the Trust predicts continued financial strength over the next five years.
In 2008-09 the trust:- Generated operating income of £161m
- Achieved an operating surplus of £7.8m and a retained surplus of £3.2m
- Managed fixed assets valued at £116m
- Invested £4.9m in capital development
- Employed around 2,500 wte staff
- Achieved benchmark costs of 93% of the national average for the activity it provided
