'Friendship helps people live fuller lives. Our homes and support meet individual needs and create better neighbourhoods to live in'
We place excellence in customer service and care as our core objective, to get things right first time. We recognise the diverse nature of cultural and social groups and actively seek to support their needs and aspirations in creative ways that facilitate better understanding and positive working and social relationships.
Friendship goes beyond a commitment to avoid discrimination. Action to redress wider inequalities and tackle indirect discrimination is our aim. Our proactive approach to vulnerability and support is therefore distinctive and value-driven.
Friendship Care and Housing was officially founded as Birmingham Friendship Housing Association on 31st January 1956 “to extend the hand of friendship” and to provide “…hostel accommodation and other amenities in the Birmingham District for immigrant workers and those associated with them”.
In May 2006 Friendship joined the Longhurst Group. This means that as well as reaffirming our commitment to excellent customer service and continuing to innovate in social housing, on diversity issues and in neighbourhood regeneration, we are now able to take advantage of the benefits of membership of a larger housing group which shares Friendship’s aims and values.
The world has changed a lot in fifty years, but the association’s guiding principles have not. We are still extending the hand of Friendship through support, care and accommodation, and we are fully committed to Equality and Diversity in everything we do.
