Staff profiles

Alix Cake, Curriculum Specialist, Technology and Art

Working at Ecclesfield School has provided me with many opportunities; I have been involved in community outreach projects, entered competitions with the students, formed links with feeder schools and colleges and been able to get involved with numerous projects. All this has come with support and encouragement from Ecclesfield School.

Andy James, Assistant Head Teacher - Innovation in Teaching and Learning

My responsibility predominantly focuses on continuing to develop the quality of teaching and learning experiences across Ecclesfield School. This involves a multi-faceted professional learning programme designed to provide opportunities for all staff to develop their expertise, in order to directly impact on student learning and progress. This includes ITT and NQT teaching development programmes, outstanding teacher programmes, middle leadership development programmes, improving teacher collaborative lesson study programmes, ICT skills development, etc.

In essence, Ecclesfield professional learning is designed to allow members of staff the opportunity to engage in professional learning at whatever career stage and level of experience they are currently at, in order to develop themselves and their impact, further. Equally, we are also interested in making refinements to the curriculum in order for students to develop the skills they will require in life and work beyond school - these skills we call EccoSkills.

Arion Quaynor- Supporting Curriculum Leader- MFL

I started working at Ecclesfield School as an NQT in MFL in September 2012. I was supported by experienced colleagues and was also able to take full advantage of the wide-ranging provision of CPD opportunities made available to staff in order to improve my practice and successfully pass my NQT year. Since completing my NQT year I have worked in a Personalisation of Learning team, which has involved providing whole-school training to my colleagues, working closely with pupil premium pupils and producing innovative ideas to be used both inside and outside of the classroom.

The school have allowed me to further progress my teaching career this year as I have recently moved from Lead Teacher of MFL to Supporting Curriculum Leader. In order for me to fulfil this role, I have been given continued support from both my line manager and a strong SLT. I have had regular opportunities to develop my leadership skills through constructive meetings with other curriculum leaders and a wide ranging assortment of CPD opportunities, both internal and external. I enjoy working at this forward thinking school which places individual development at the heart of its ethos and I look forward to further progressing my teaching career here.

Jodie Rae Lindley, GTP in Art

As a long-term employee, I have had the pleasure to work at Ecclesfield school for 7 years. In that time I have been supported throughout my working career. I have been provided with opportunities to learn new skills, developed ways of working to benefit our students and been given training and guidance to develop my own knowledge and performance.

I am passionate about Ecclesfield School and the students who pass through it.

Jonathan Travis- Curriculum Leader for History

Hello, my name is Jonathan Travis and I became Curriculum Leader for History at Ecclesfield School in September 2013. Although the step up was daunting at first, the help and support I received early on helped me quickly adapt to the demands of the role. Since then there has been significant change instigated throughout the department, culminating in record GCSE results in History this summer. Ecclesfield is a very positive and forward thinking place to work, with supportive staff and energetic students.

Considering the large number of staff and students, there is a very 'small-school' feel to Ecclesfield and this can be largely attributed to the trust placed in staff by the Senior Leadership Team. There are plenty of opportunities for professional development and I look forward to leading the department in years to come.

Mark Silcock, Teacher of Music

Mark started his career at Ecclesfield School as a Cover Supervisor and after only 2 years in post is now working as a Full Time Teacher of Music. “Ecclesfield School is a great place to work. The staff are all supportive and willing to share their experiences and professional insights and I feel extremely well supported in my role.

The senior leadership team value each and every member's input and I am made to feel valued in everything I do. The students at Ecclesfield are a pleasure to work with and I look forward to each day.”
