Job opportunities

with the Department
of Energy & Climate Change,
Aberdeen and London

Welcome

Thank you for your interest in these exciting new roles that will be responsible for our stewardship of the UK Continental Shelf at a critical time for the industry.

The UK oil and gas industry is of national importance; it makes a substantial contribution to the economy, supporting around 450,000 jobs, and saw record capital expenditure in 2013 of around £14 billion. Oil and gas will continue to be a vital part of the energy mix as we transition to a low-carbon economy, with indigenous oil and gas production supplying the equivalent of about half of the UK’s primary energy demand. It is vital, therefore, that we continue to maximise economic recovery of our indigenous hydrocarbon reserves.

These posts will be at the forefront of the future of the UK’s oil and gas industry. They will be vital in building the capability for the new body and taking a key role in the stewardship of the UKCS ensuring the UK extracts maximum economic value from our oil and gas resources.

If you have the appetite to work on issues that directly impact the economy and our energy security, as well as world class technical skills and experience, we would be very keen to hear from you.
