About Us

Arena Housing Association was formed following the merger of St Helens-based Grosvenor Housing Association and Liverpool-based Liver Housing Association in August 2001.  In October 2006, Arena Housing Group was established by creating a parent company with six partner organisations, between them managing almost 14,000 properties across Merseyside, the North West and Yorkshire:

Arena Housing Group

The parent company provides central support functions on a Group-wide basis, including HR management, IT, finance, new business, development project management, repairs and maintenance, procurement and insurance advice, PR/marketing, board and committee services.
The Group’s ultimate aim is to use its resources and expertise in housing provision to improve the quality of life for its residents.  Fundamental elements of this are:

  • providing access to high quality housing for people in housing need;
  • delivering customer-focused repair and maintenance services to ensure that high standards are sustained.

Beyond this emphasis on physical housing issues, the Group is committed to the wider regeneration of the communities in which it operates.  This includes environmental improvements and schemes for the wholesale remodelling of urban areas as well as initiatives to boost job creation, provide training opportunities and provide support to vulnerable members of the community so that they can make the transition to independent living.
The Group has helped transform the lives of disadvantaged groups in Arena communities, all the time focusing on what local people actually want.  Consultation with residents in Arena communities is key to the way we operate and is built into the process of developing properties or initiatives from the earliest stages.  Arena’s sensitivity and understanding of residents’ concerns has been demonstrated in successful bids for complete housing schemes, with the Group being selected by residents themselves as their preferred landlord.  In addition, residents are involved on an ongoing basis in:

  • deciding how they would like their homes to be managed, redeveloped, or fitted out;
  • influencing regeneration projects affecting the future of their areas at a strategic level;
  • driving projects at grassroots level, where they identify needs in the community and Arena acts as a facilitator, enabling these projects to be realised.
