The good news for anyone considering a move to Australia is that the market is experiencing a shortage of particular skills. According to our latest Hays Quarterly Report for Australia, Executive Assistants and Personal Assistants are among several roles in demand.
In particular, Executive Assistants with strong experience are sought in the private sector. As organisations transfer executives from overseas, EA’s are required to support them, while organisations moving into larger offices require Office Managers to support the move and look after backend functions.
Personal Assistants with 2-5 years’ experience, particularly candidates who have worked within the Construction, Finance or Public Sector are in high demand. Receptionists are also sought, with candidates often using this role as a stepping stone to other office support roles. Because of this trend, turnovers are high and opportunities are widely available.
Administrators are needed in the finance industry due to the improving Australian property and investment market. Order administrators with SAP skills are in demand in manufacturing and FMCG companies that need more people to process orders. SAP is one of the largest ERP systems that companies use to raise purchase orders and SAP experience has become a must in every order processing candidate.
Great time to move to Australia
A general sense of confidence and positive permanent and temporary hiring intentions in many states and territories mean it really is a good time to consider a life changing move to Australia.
When they recruit, employers in Australia will consider candidates from the UK who lack local experience if they can still perform the role and have the necessary technical skills. Cultural fit also remains important, with employers looking for someone who will be aligned with the organisation’s unique way of doing business and can work successfully from day one with the executives or managers they support.
