Interim Head of Compliance for Housing Association. Remote working with occasional travel to Leeds.

I am working with a Housing Association in search for an interim Head of Compliance (Housing).

Pay: Negotiable Day Rate

You will have overall responsibility for providing professional, expert health and safety guidance and leadership within the organisation relating to colleagues, customers and building safety. You ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations and legislation through the implementation of health and safety management systems, including ISO 45001, and other current standards of good practice.

You will work closely with the Director of Governance and Executive Team by ensuring decision-making is well-informed by appropriate analytics, identifying risks and mitigation options. Responsible for overseeing and developing new approaches, you will drive continuous improvement to all aspects of health and safety compliance and positively influence the organisation’s reputation through building strong relationships with H&S enforcement authorities and other external partners.

Key Responsibility

Leadership
  • Lead the health & safety compliance team (the Big Six)
  • As part of the wider leadership team, provide confident and clear leadership and direction, and look ahead at opportunities and risk that support the organisation’s ambitions.
  • Collaborate with leadership colleagues across the wider business to develop and implement joined-up plans that deliver the Business Strategy.
  • Empower colleagues to find the best solutions and take forward our culture of innovation, flexibility and service excellence.
  • Strive to continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the Health and Safety compliance team in delivering excellent colleague and customer experience and value for money.
  • Ensure appropriate levels of assurance and confidence in plans and performance across your business areas to the Directors and Executive Team.

Health and Safety Compliance
  • Act as the Responsible Person ensuring that the business meets its statutory and regulatory health and safety compliance requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant health and safety related policies and procedures are established, communicated clearly and monitored.
  • Develop and implement medium and long-term health, safety and compliance strategies across the operation covering both people and property.
  • Deliver a specialist, efficient and professional health and safety advisory service to colleagues across the organisation, setting clear expectations and standards relating to health, safety and wellbeing.
  • Lead responsibility for the organisation's major incident planning, ensuring that robust and effective planning is in place which is regularly tested.
  • Liaise with the People team on health and wellbeing issues particularly where a risk assessment has identified a need, including supporting HR and line managers in carrying out individual risk assessments when required.
  • Oversee and undertake audits where appropriate and ensure an action plan is established to address issues identified.
