Hays Senior Finance is proud to be working in partnership with Christus Catholic Trust (CCT) who are looking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer which is a key and pivotal appointment where you will be a part of their executive team.
CCT is a Multi-Academy Trust within the Catholic Diocese of Brentwood, comprising of six primary schools and a nursery: Holy Cross in South Ockendon, St Anne Line Infants and Nursery in Basildon, St Joseph’s in Stanford Le Hope, St Mary’s in Tilbury, St Peter’s in Billericay, St Teresa’s in Basildon, and St Thomas of Canterbury in Grays. It is anticipated that the trust will continue to grow over the next five years.

What you’ll do…

The Chief Financial Officer is a key and pivotal role which will provide operational leadership and management of the Finance function resulting in the delivery of great value services that make a difference to both students and its own staff. Operating at a senior level, and reporting to the Senior Executive Leader, the successful candidate will lead the financial aspects of the Trust on the next phase of its journey, as they strive towards excellence in all aspects of the education they provide.

Working directly with the leadership team, as your key stakeholders, this role provides a great opportunity to add value to and demonstrate impact for the organisation. You will control the maintenance of internal good governance by providing accurate, consistent, reliable, and timely data to inform better decision-making.
You will provide strategic management and leadership of the financial and commercial operations and line manage the central finance team operated by the Trust.

To achieve this, you will need to work effectively and efficiently with internal teams. You will be responsible for the full remit of the finance function to ensure the finances of the Trust remain secure and are compliant to the statutory regulations. We are, therefore, looking for an exceptional finance professional whose leadership skills are equal to their ambition who will:

  1. Manage a broad portfolio of work including the accountancy and reporting function
  2. Lead and deliver business plans
  3. Ensure compliance to meet our statutory, regulatory and professional obligations
  4. Quickly command and sustain confidence amongst Trustees, staff and key stakeholders
  5. Identify and deliver opportunities for growth

As a member of the Trust’s Executive Team, you will attend Trust Board meetings and be a trusted advisor on financial matters to the Trustees. The role will be based at St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, but you will be expected to attend meetings and work at each of the School sites which fall within the responsibility of the Christus Catholic Trust in Thurrock and Essex.

The ideal candidate will be a finance professional and be ACA, ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA qualified or equivalent, with previous experience of leading a high performing finance team. Experience of working with in Education or the Charities sector will be an advantage,
You will have gravitas, drive, ambition and above all a strong degree of commercial and financial acumen. In addition to the ability to liaise with high level key stakeholders, you will create insightful financial and operational performance information that will direct business planning and in-year delivery. You will be a proven strong team leader who is able to communicate effectively at all levels within the organisation.
