TAX JOBS FAQs

Tax professionals can command salaries far higher than the national average, particularly those working in FTSE 100/250 or financial services organisations. A tax director at a FTSE 100 organisation in London could earn as much as £310,000, whilst a UK tax manager could expect up to £85,000 and a tax accountant £54,000.

A manager working at one of the Big Four accounting firms, meanwhile, could command a salary as high as £75,000, or up to £60,000 at other practices.

More than ever, tax leaders are focused on securing professionals with the skills that will ensure their team is positioned to meet the evolving needs of the business. These include the ability to formulate strategic insights from data, specialist tax technical skills and a willingness to advise and provide support to other areas of the business in matters such as restructuring and efficient financing.

Several professional bodies offer qualifications that can lead to an increased salary, more responsibility and greater progression in the tax profession. This includes membership with the Association of Tax Technicians (ATT), the leading body for those providing UK tax compliance services and the Chartered Tax Adviser qualification offered by the Chartered Institute of Taxation (CIOT)
