Business Support Administrator, Lisburn, Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service, £15.38

Your new company

The Northern Ireland Fire and Rescue Service are recruiting for a Business Support Administrator. This is based in the Headquarters in Lisburn. This post is 3 months with possible extension.

Your new role

As the Business Support Administrator, you will provide high‑quality administrative and reception support across the organisation. This includes managing a busy reception and switchboard, handling enquiries, coordinating mail and deliveries, and supporting meetings through agenda preparation, minute taking and follow‑up actions. You will prepare and collate a range of documentation, maintain databases and records, manage ID passes and visitor access, arrange travel bookings, and support organisational processes such as GDPR compliance and records management. You will also contribute to wider business support activities, assist with research tasks, and provide flexible support to ensure smooth day‑to‑day operations across the directorate.

What you'll need to succeed

To succeed in this role, you will need:
  • At least 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Maths, or equivalent.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a demanding office environment, providing business support activities such as scheduling and supporting meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Windows and Microsoft applications, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong planning, organisation and prioritisation skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Confident written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to produce timely and accurate information.
  • A customer‑service‑focused approach in all interactions.
Desirable: Experience in minute‑taking, managing a switchboard, or working within local government/public sector.
