In the first event of its kind in Manchester, senior NHS IT professionals from across the Northwest met to discuss and debate the main obstacles facing IT advancements within the NHS. The Northwest Strategic Health Authority, in partnership with Hays Information Technology, the leading recruiting expert, hosted the event which was held the Old Trafford Cricket Ground in Manchester on the 1st December 2009.
Speakers included Paul Charnley, Strategy Consultant at the Northwest Strategic Health Authority, and John Willshere, Informatics Capability Development Director at Connecting for Health. Senior IT managers from across the North West were in attendance and discussions focused on the development of NHS IT systems. The event also addressed real-world IT planning problems and solutions that may offer significant benefits to organisations. This included an introduction to VP2 by Lee Chant and Steven Peel, the new fixed priced project solution which Hays has launched, and was very well received at the event, and an invitation to guests to attend an open day at the Northwest SHA new offices also proved very popular with only limited spaces now left over.
