Almost recession-proof, the development sector continues to enjoy high demand for candidates, as both public and private employers streamline their operations. Developers with HTML, JavaScript, CSS and UI skills are much sought-after, to the point that companies are recruiting from Central and Eastern Europe, particularly in open source development.

Formerly outsourced infrastructure services are returning to the UK, prompting higher demand for candidates, along with the spread of virtualisation and cloud technologies; professionals with expertise in these areas are at a strong advantage.
