If you work in Credit Control, the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM) offers professional qualifications that are designed to help you improve your effectiveness and career prospects. The CICM Diploma Pathway is a suite of nationally recognised unit awards and qualifications that range from Level 2 to Level 5 and provide a benchmark for the credit industry.

Our partner, the Chartered Institute of Credit Management (CICM), has awarded qualifications since 1949 and their qualifications follow the QCF framework and are accredited by OfQual.

CICM professional qualifications have been specifically designed with the help of employers to be up-to-date and relevant to the current needs of business. Specialised units and a flexible structure give the opportunity to build qualifications to suit roles and career ambitions. Gaining a CICM qualification will not only boost your earning potential but it will also demonstrate professionalism and commitment.

Exemptions

If you have business related qualifications at an equivalent or higher level, you can apply for an exemption.

Which qualification is right for me?

Level 2 Certificate in Credit Management (19 credits)

Affiliate for improved skills

• Show you are competent in your role

• Raise your confidence and performance at work

You can start with a small unit (worth 3 credits) to establish competency in your area of work e.g. Credit Application Processing, then continue to larger specialised skills units e.g. in Telephone Collections or Negotiation and Influencing (6 credits each). Alternatively you can choose two of the larger units e.g. Credit Management. You will gain credits and a certificate for each unit you complete.

Level 3 Diploma in Credit Management (37 credits)

Associate ACICM - if you aspire to more senior roles

• Raise your effectiveness

• Improve your career prospects

• Gain access to the Institute’s Graduate programme

If you aspire to more senior roles and would like to build your knowledge further, this qualification provides a general introduction to all aspects of the credit management function, whilst developing a core business understanding.

Fast track to the Graduate Programme by taking Credit Management, Business Environment, Business Law and Accounting Principles. These units are essential for graduate study.

Level 5 Diploma in Credit Management

Graduate MCICM(Grad) for essential management skills and knowledge

• Raise your level of expertise

• Build professional recognition

• Gain access to BA(Hons) Degree in Credit Management top up year

This is the institute’s Graduate Programme and provides essential knowledge for working in a credit management role covering topics such as Strategic Planning, Risk Management, Compliance, Process Improvement, Communications and Leadership and Legal Proceedings & Insolvency.

You need Level 3 qualifications in Credit Management, Accounting Principles, Business Law and Business Environment to progress to this level.
