Our planning and preparation ensures that each trip is as successful as it can be; we draw on all the lessons we’ve learned over the years to maximize each stage of the process.
One of our recruitment trip attendees had this to say:
“I know from past experience the quality of candidates to be interviewed and recruited on trips I have attended with Hays Education. I would recommend the entire process both for those who may wish to participate in it and for others who may see it as a way of acquiring high calibre members of staff.”

Before the trip
Before we visit the target country, our candidate attraction specialists will design and run a campaign to attract the country’s teaching staff to your school.
Interested candidates will attend an interview with one of our consultants to gauge their suitability before we shortlist them. Of course we always obtain full references to prove their qualifications and competency.
When you arrive
Over the course of these two-to-five day trips, you’ll be able to interview up to around 40 qualified candidates in person. This will give you an extensive choice for each vacancy.
To help you decide upon the suitability of candidates, we also provide detailed competency interviews and supporting references.
Once you’ve made your selections, the successful candidates are immediately offered positions to secure their appointments, subject to visa regulations.
Back in the UK
Our commitment to ensuring you get the very best teaching staff doesn’t stop after the offers are accepted. We carry out extensive overseas checks for all candidates in line with the DCSF Quality Mark processes, including:
- Police checks
- Identity checks
- Qualifications and reference checks
We also keep in regular contact with the candidate to support their transition to the UK and ensure it’s as smooth as possible. We will arrange inductions, training and social events for your new teacher or head teacher, to help them feel professionally and personally supported – and we maintain this throughout the first year.
Other services you may choose from:
- A range of tailored training modules to support any required area of development
- The opportunity to gain QTS status in partnership with the University of Reading
- Assistance with setting up bank accounts and finding accommodation for your new overseas hires
One of our overseas teachers summarises her experience of working with us:
“It can be very overwhelming moving to a new country and Hays has done absolutely everything possible to make this transition easy for me. I must have emailed two or three times a day for four months with questions, doubts and worries but they were always quick to respond and very helpful at providing information and answering any questions. Overall, I would definitely recommend this opportunity. It is a lot of work to get over here but worth it once you finally make the move. Hays was fantastic!”
