A degree, HNC or other relevant qualification is the normal requirement. Experience in the following software is desirable: ARCADY, PICADY, LINSIG, TRANSYT, SATURN, COBA, TUBA, QUADRO, PARAMICS, VISION, TRICS, GIS and AutoCAD.
Appreciation of statutory standards
An understanding of statutory processes, highway specifications and DMRB standards as an appreciation of designers’ roles under CDM, including preparation of designers risk assessments, is also beneficial.
To succeed in consulting engineering, you need to be highly motivated and an enthusiastic team player with good communication skills. A good working knowledge of junction and/or network modelling software is also useful.
