Pipeline engineering jobs
Pipelines are key to both field development and the transportation of oil and gas on a global scale. They are the primary means of transporting oil and gas, making them the vital element in the structure of the industry, adding to the importance and thrill of working in pipeline engineering jobs.
Their place in the hydrocarbon production chain dictates that a multidisciplinary approach is required to the design, construction, operation and maintenance of pipelines.
Buoyant demand for Finite Element analyst jobs
Experience working for Operators, EPC’s or specialist Consultancies is usually required although talented graduates particularly those with a MSc in pipeline engineering are also high on a client’s wishlist. Experience can vary from the initial design phase through to fabrication, installation or operation and as many pipeline companies work overseas, international knowledge can be an asset.
Software used by Pipeline engineers varies from the standard PIPESIM and ABAQUS through to lesser-known packages such as FS2000 and Orcaflex. Knowledge of industry codes is also necessary including British, American and International standards. Pipeline engineering can include a lot of Finite Element (FE) analysis so specialists in this area are far and few between.
