We are delighted to announce that we will continue our partnership with Action for Children for a second year, which will commence on 1st July 2010.
Founded in 1869, Action for Children exists to help the most vulnerable children and young people to break through injustice, deprivation and inequality. They have been providing specialist support for children and young people affected by poverty, disability, abuse or neglect for almost 140 years. Action for Children helps nearly 170,000 children, young people and their families through nearly 450 projects across the UK. As well as providing services across the UK they also support work in Southern Africa, the Caribbean and Central America.
In our first year with Action for Children we have worked with the charity and other corporate partners on an employability programme which has been delivered at various AfC projects across the UK. The project's ultimate aim is to offer young people who need extra support to get into education, employment or training access to opportunities in the workplace. This is backed by an additional programme of practical support and personal development activity.
Across Hays, we will continue to work with Action for Children through many of our PR / marketing events both internally across our offices, and where possible, externally with client and candidate driven initiatives.
In addition to two UK-wide Fundraising Days, there is also an action-packed nationwide Action for Children programme of fundraising events, which includes ‘Step out for Children’ summer walks, overseas challenges including 'Team Hays' for the Kilimanjaro Trek, volunteering, mentoring as well as various community projects which Hays employees will participate in.
Action for Children has expressed its gratitude to everyone at Hays for our fantastic contribution for Year 1 which totalled £120,000 smashing our target of £40,000.
Please note we will be seeking a new charity partner for 2011/2012. To be considered as our new partner we open our tender process during March with short listing taking place throughout April.
