Once you've created your CV, a good approach is to treat it as a ‘living’ document, updating it as soon as you undertake any activity that you would like to add to it. By doing this, you don’t have to experience the stress of trying to recall all your duties, training courses and achievements in one sitting. You never know when a new opportunity may present itself and it’s important that you can respond quickly.
It's also a good idea to email your CV to a web-based email account so that you can access it from wherever you are. This will enable you to:
- Maintain it more easily: simply update it and email it to yourself again
- Access it without delay if you are away from your home and find out about an opportunity
- Upload it from wherever you are if you want to apply for a job online
- Have a back-up copy of it in the event that your computer breaks down
If you follow the tips above, there's a good chance you'll be grateful for it at some point in your career. Read the rest of our CV advice below, and then set up some job alerts to start receiving jobs that meet your criteria.
