My Team-Teach trained candidate is currently working as an HLTA at a local Primary School. They would describe their teaching style as flexible and adaptable to individual pupils, and believes in encouraging pupils to work independently whilst building lasting relationships with their pupils. My candidate specialises in Arts and Languages, and is able to teach/support German, Spanish and French at Primary level.
Their current school caters for a mix of pupil backgrounds, and includes pupils with EAL, and pupils who require regular restraint. The Year 5 classes can demonstrate challenging and aggressive behaviour and my candidate will always establish her control over these classes as quickly as they can, particularly in their Music lessons, they will do this by ensuring there are lead pupils with responsibilities for instruments which is a reward for good behaviour.
As part of their current Music Subject Leader role, they handle all reporting, and are comfortable planning and delivering their lessons. They also carry out PPA cover for their current school. They have also covered a Teacher’s paternity leave where they prepared all resources and carried out all assessments in line with his medium term plan handover.
My candidate is confident in supporting a variety of SEN and challenging behaviour. They have worked on a 1:1 basis with an Autistic pupil who is known for aggressive behaviour. In their role with a local Music Trust, my candidate would work with children with additional needs in music sessions, including children with Downs Syndrome.
My candidate is looking for another Higher Level Teaching Assistant role in a supportive school where they can really excel.
“X really made a positive impact with staff and students. They took whole responsibility for the post of Foreign Languages Assistant for German and Spanish. They developed into a very effective and dedicated FLA who has a natural gift to educate. They also helped the department in cultural events like special language days and a Christmas singing contest as well as aiding in admin work for the department going above and beyond.
They were extremely committed to their role and always goes beyond their line of duty to help students. They also ran revision and coursework catch-up sessions for KS4 at lunchtimes and after school. They are a very fast learner and in a very short time in the department they clearly made a massive impact. They were easy to manage as they took the initiative to improve processes to be more efficient.
X was well-respected by students, displaying assertiveness, a good sense of humour and excellent behaviour management. They set high expectations for themselves and their students. X has a lot of informal and formal experience with SEN students that made their job as an FLA a pleasure to observe. X knew how to motivate and inspire the lower ability students by engaging with them with positive language aided with creative kinaesthetic activities.” Head of MFL, Local Secondary School.
