The top 5 procurement jobs set to get the biggest pay rises in 2019

With Brexit on the horizon, procurement and supply chain professionals who can be flexible and adaptable will see the best salaries in 2019. The majority (93%) of employers in the field say they have experienced skills shortages over the last year, according to our latest Hays UK Salary & Recruiting Trends 2019 guide.

As a result of these shortages, salaries in the profession rose by an average of 1.8% last year, with bigger rises in supply chain roles, as a result of preparations for Brexit. Nearly three-quarters (74%) of employers increased salaries in procurement, supply chain and logistics (PSC&L) last year, with the top increases being seen in the following roles:

  • Category manager
  • Procurement manager
  • Contract/commercial manager
  • Supplier relationship manager
  • Procurement analyst


In line with these pay rises, 59% of professionals say they are happy with their salary, up from 44% last year.

Salary satisfaction?

While there is generally greater salary satisfaction across the PSC&L industry, well over half (58%) of professionals plan to change jobs over the coming year – and just over a quarter (26%) of them say this is down to their salary and benefits package.

PSC&L professionals who can combine problem-solving skills with the key management skills of leadership, communication and project management will be those who will see the biggest pay rises in 2019.
